Overview

Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas, and it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. You can’t see or smell it, so testing is the only way to know a home’s radon level.

Focus 1 schedules the test with a licensed radon measurement professional. Results come in an easy-to-use format, delivered electronically with your home inspection report or shortly after, depending on scheduling. Each test requires a minimum deployment of 48 hours.

Understanding your results

Radon is measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The EPA recommends fixing a home when the radon level is 4 pCi/L or higher, and considering a fix for levels between 2 and 4 pCi/L.

Buying a home that already has a radon result? The EPA notes that a buyer may want a new test if the last one isn’t recent, for example within the past two years.
